Is it intended..

When people report issues with software, sometimes they start the conversation with hey, is it normal that [the most egregiously not-normal thing ever] happens?

No, your computer coming to life and doing backflips as a result of running The Software is, in all probability, not intended. Just report the issue.

Something like this is especially maddening when the person then refuses to explain more or stops responding all together. Another example of this;

hey, is it intended the app loads so slowly? it's really unusable

with no further elaboration or response.

You don't walk into a candy shop, ask if it's intended they don't have candy & then leave without responding to their answer.

The REAL way to report an issue;

hi, i'm having an issue where [issue description]. the way i got it to happen was [issue reproduction], can i get some help with this?

The solution? Use Words. If you have to ask the question, 99% of the time it is probably not intended. And in that other 1%, you've already had a more productive conversation the developer can action on much quicker instead of having to hound you to elaborate.

Turn "is this intended?" into "hey i'm having this issue, anyone know what's up?" and you will not only save lives but also save sanity
